Facebook Jesus: It's Not Over
Easter 2009... what does it mean to you? The Easter holiday has become many different things today, and it can be easy to lose site of what it's all about. Here's what Easter means to us at Mosaic: We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. As an act of incredible love, Jesus died for our sake... a tragic, yet heroic sacrifice that could have the potential to focus on the dark side of humanity, where we hurt those we love, feel rejected, maybe even guilty for our own selfishness... yes, and the realist says this is the way of all things, to finally come to an end. But the message of Easter is - It's Not Over! Jesus' resurrection gives us hope and symbolizes how God's power exceeds all the things over which we feel defeat. Our marriage - is not over, our dreams - are not over, the life we've longed for - is not over! Receive this message and share it with someone else by inviting them to join us for Easter next week. Easter is also our birthday! This Sunday marks 5 years that Mosaic Seattle has been meeting. How is your life different? Tell that story!

Facebook Jesus: Mark Chapter 2
There is so much in each chapter of Mark's account of Jesus' life and teaching. In fact, it will be hard to get to everything.  But this incredible story shouldn't just be part of our lives on Sundays. So... one of the ways you could "facebook" with Jesus is to dig in a little more. For those of you that would love to continue the discussion you can join the Mosaic facebook group at http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6411113666

Facebook Jesus: Mark Chapter 1
chapter 1
A couple of important issues to consider:
Early in Jesus' ministry, he healed many people. A very personal example was when he went to Simon's house. (Jesus later calls Simon, Peter meaning rock, because of because of his rock-like belief in Jesus). While at the home, Jesus healed Simon's mother-in-law. The whole town saw this and began to bring people in a continuous stream of need.

Two interesting things happen...

First, Jesus warns the demons he is rebuking to not reveal his identity. Why would he do this? I would love to hear your thoughts about this.

Secondly, Jesus gets up early and goes off alone to pray. When his followers find him they inform him that plenty more people have come to find him. The implication is probably that they want to be healed or they want to watch the healings. Here's the twist - Jesus says it's time to move on to other places so that he "can preach to them, too. That is why I came." Wow! What does that mean? What do you think about that? Why would Jesus pass up an opportunity to get a crowd together?

I'll give my thoughts later... you first!
